let’s do this, together.

  • Few things bring me more joy than taking what God reveals to me through His Word and sharing it with others. The Bible is vast, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I love breaking down Scripture in a way that is clear, relatable, and applicable to people’s everyday lives, helping them grow closer to Jesus.

Preaching God's Word is a serious responsibility and should never be treated lightly. People are hungry for what is true, real, and trustworthy. They long for hope, direction, and something they can fully depend on. The Gospel is what the world needs, and God has entrusted me with the task of sharing His message. This calling is both humbling and awe-inspiring, and I pray I never preach a word that isn’t from Him.

As Allistar Begg once said: “If people leave worship saying, ‘What an amazing preacher!’ we have failed. Instead, we must long for them to say, ‘What a great God, and what a privilege it is to meet Him in His Word, as we have just done.’ A good teacher clears the way, declares the way, and then gets out of the way.”

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” – 2 Timothy 4:2

  • Leadership development is the ultimate game changer for any organization. It's the foundation of a strong, healthy culture that drives sustainable success.

When you invest in developing leaders, you’re not just improving their professional skills—you’re enhancing their overall quality of life. A well-equipped and empowered individual becomes a more valuable team member, and a more fulfilled person. As the individual grows, the team grows, and with that, the organization becomes stronger.

Leadership development is also about future-proofing the organization. It ensures you have the right people, in the right places, ready to guide the team where it needs to go. This not only guarantees success today but sets the stage for long-term impact.

In essence, effective leadership development builds a team that’s adaptable, collaborative, and capable of making wise decisions in an ever-changing landscape.

As John C. Maxwell wisely said, “The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on Leadership Development.”

  • My mentor ingrained this truth in me: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." That mindset transformed how I lead. Success isn’t real success if you lose your team along the way. What have you truly gained if your accomplishments come at the expense of others? God isn’t impressed by our achievements if they’re built on leaving people behind. True success, in God’s eyes, means winning together, following His way with unity and humility.

A healthy culture doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intentionality and commitment from every member of the team. Everyone has to agree on what the culture should be, and then work together to make it a reality.

As Jocko Willink said, "Culture isn't what you preach; it's what you tolerate."

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:23-24

  • At its core, the Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

The world can be harsh and unforgiving, and the only way to navigate it toward God is by placing your faith in and following His Son. The Church’s primary responsibility is to equip its members to become more like Jesus, the ultimate hope for the world and the only way through its challenges.

As a pastor, there is no greater joy than helping someone find salvation in Christ and then guiding them in their walk with Him. Discipleship is where you discover your purpose, identity, strength, and hope. Don’t limit Jesus to just being your Savior—let Him be your Lord. When you surrender fully to Him, you allow His transformation to reach every area of your life.

“What makes authentic disciples is not visions, ecstasies, biblical mastery of chapter and verse, or spectacular success in the ministry, but a capacity for faithfulness. Buffeted by the fickle winds of failure, battered by their own unruly emotions, and bruised by rejection and ridicule, authentic disciples may have stumbled and frequently fallen, endured lapses and relapses, gotten handcuffed to the fleshpots and wandered into a far country. Yet, they kept coming back to Jesus.” – Brennan Manning

“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.’” – Matthew 16:24-25

More about Derrick

I love Jesus, I love my family, and I love the work I get to do. And I’m grateful that God has given me the right priorities—keeping Him first, my family second, and my calling third.

Jesus saved me as a teenager and, later on, revealed my purpose and calling as a young man. I honestly don’t know who I’d be or what my life would look like without Him. His love has transformed me, and I want others to experience that same love. It’s my greatest desire for people to know how deeply loved they are by God.

I’m also blessed with a wonderful wife and two incredible little girls. I absolutely love being a husband and a girl dad! Whether it’s going for walks, playing with blocks, or reading bedtime stories, I cherish every moment with my family. I never take for granted how blessed I am to have them.

And I’m passionate about what I do for a living. I have the privilege of helping people encounter Jesus, walking alongside them in their struggles, and guiding them as they grow in their faith. I have the joy of not just introducing someone to Jesus as Savior, I get to help them make him their Lord. I also get to support leaders and teams as they develop their strengths and reach new levels of success and joy in what they do. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling calling.
